After my first vegan birthday last year, I celebrated my second vegan birthday (and my 26th ‘real’ birthday) at home again. After a wonderful house party in Berlin, where I was so busy chatting, mingling and having fun that I didn’t even take pictures (I thought that’s impossible!), I went back home to my parents’ and had some friends and family over for cake and dinner. Today, there’s only a kind of quick’n’dirty easy basic recipe. As it’s summer, I’m having more and more salads – a light, healthy but filling lunch that doesn’t make you tired and gives you enough energy for the rest of your work or school day (or weekend ; )).
Recently, I’ve been to Stockholm for a week, and I just wanted to share the wonderful food I had there with you.
Although I can’t say that much about the whole ‘vegan scene’, Sweden seems quite a nice place for people with allergies. A lot of dishes and products are marked as ‘gluten-/lactose-/dairy-/nut- or soy-free’ in restaurants, hotels or shops. Nobody frowns upon you if you ask what’s exactly in your food, and if someone looked a bit puzzled when I said ‘vegan please’, I just explained that I’d like my food vegetarian, dairy- and egg-free, simple as.
